First day of orientation went pretty well. Though I think the day was kind of being played "good cop/bad cop" style. I got to meet my mentor, who seems nice, and have a whole bunch of introductory classes/sessions. The first "real" class is tomorrow (civil procedure), though officially classes don't start until Monday.
I think the funniest thing from orientation has nothing to do with orientation itself. I'm not sure if it started as a reaction to the school or if it was always this way, but about a six block radius around campus is filled with old houses (like the one I'm in) that have been converted into rentals. Interestingly this lends itself to a very...dorm like atmosphere. It was weird, very much like a gigantic freshman move in day. But it's nice. It sounds like the majority of the people that go to school like in this six block radius and it'll be fun to walk to school (well, I say that now...check with me in december).
Also, the barbeque last night was fun and, semi-relatedly, attorneys seem to drink a bit. My faculty adviser busted out his vodka martini a tiny bit after noon.

Heh.
I hate civil procedure so so so so so much.
Well, my first civil procedure reading wasn't really so much on topic (it was an article called "the law as theatre") so we'll see how I feel about it soon enough.
